Cook Elementary School

CELEBRATING OUR DIVERSITY AS LEARNERS

Network Shutdown - December 17th

To Parents/Guardians,

This special notice is to advise you that on Tuesday, December 17th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm the school will not have any phone or internet service. A special work task performed by Telus is scheduled for this afternoon where the school’s new fiber optic cabling will be connected to the new addition area. To allow for this work to be performed, the school’s communication network must be shut down for 2 hours.

What this means, is that the school cannot receive or make phone calls using their standard phone lines from 2:00 - 4:00pm on this one afternoon.  Also, staff and students will not be able to use typical tech devices (iPads, Laptops to connect to the internet) in their classes for this same short time period.

To ensure that staff and students remain supported and safe during the afternoon of December 17th, extra District Administrators will be on the school site to provide help if needed.

Most Importantly- In case of any emergency, or if any parent/guardian needs to contact the school during this time, please feel comfortable calling Mr. Mike Charlton, District Administrator-Emergency Preparedness and Seismic Upgrade Liaison on this number: 604-349-8737. Mr. Charlton will be on site at Cook Elementary on this day and will be working alongside Ms. Loat and Ms. Alderson to respond to any calls.

Please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Loat if you have any questions or concerns regarding December 17th and the short network shut down.
