Transitional Learner Return To School - March 30, 2021
March 11, 2021
Dear Transitional Learner Parent:
Last night, the Richmond Board of Education voted to extend the Elementary Transitional Learning Program through to the end of the school year.
Some students have been away from school for one year or more. Some students are having difficulty learning online at home and are missing friends and social connections. Other students and their families have different needs and considerations during the ongoing pandemic.
If you are ready to return to school on Tuesday, March 30th (after Spring Break), please notify the school as soon as possible. For these students, please bring a mask, water bottle, a snack and lunch, and enter your classroom from the outside door. If you are unsure where to go, please go to the school office.
If you are continuing with Transitional Learning, please note that the next start date for online lessons will be Tuesday, April 6th (after the Easter Weekend).
Please complete and return by email the survey below to help Cook teachers plan for the upcoming term. The timeline is very short but the Board of Education decision was made yesterday and we want TL families to have the most updated information. Please return this information to email@example.com or contact your TL teacher by Thursday, March 11th at 4:00pm.
**Please submit your reply by Thursday, March 11th, 4:00pm so that we may plan for your child’s return on March 30th**
- YES, my child, _______________________ in Division _________ will be returning to school on Monday, March 30th.
- NO, my child, _______________________ in Division _________ will not be returning to school and will remain on Transitional Learning, starting Tuesday, April 6th, for the remainder of the school year.
Please note: Several families have already let us know that students are returning March 29th – teachers have already planned for these students. These last-minute returns will need time for organization, so these students will start on March 30th.
