Cook Elementary School

CELEBRATING OUR DIVERSITY AS LEARNERS

Staff Observations

Kindergarten - Grade 2

What we noticed:

• Garden was a space that was very engaging and students asked questions and made observations

• Outdoor learning and using loose parts to discuss what was seen or discussed was engaging

  • Story workshop outdoors-very engaging, how seasons change
  • Soft start hands-on activities, each student has their own entry point and the activities are open-ended-develops cooperation and sharing and engagement

Next Steps:

  • Developing perseverance, stamina
  • Developing a growth mindset
  • Using more visual rubrics to shows stages of learning e.g. seed, sprout, plant, flower
