Literacy materials to support student learning
An action that we have taken to support our school’s learning focus is: | We have purchased new literacy materials recommended by the district to support student learning across a variety of grade levels. These resources align with current curriculum expectations and best practices in literacy instruction. For intermediate students, we have developed Literature Circle sets based on recommendations from our Curriculum Consultants. These sets support rich discussion, critical thinking, and engagement with a range of texts. For primary students, we have purchased a variety of levelled books and literature centre materials to encourage best practices in early literacy instruction.

This action supports our school’s learning focus in the following ways: | The purchase of new literacy materials will support our School Story focus on strengthening reading comprehension skills from Kindergarten to Grade 7. These resources provide developmentally appropriate texts and instructional supports that help students build understanding, make meaning, and think critically about what they read. By providing engaging materials, we are supporting a consistent approach to reading comprehension and other literacy skills throughout the school.
